Overview

UTA2-1 is a peptide derived from a minor histocompatibility antigen (mHag) used as the active component in a donor-derived dendritic cell (DC) vaccine. Developed by VU University Medical Center, the vaccine involves loading donor DCs with the UTA2-1 peptide and silencing the expression of PD-L1 and PD-L2 to enhance T-cell activation. This cell-based immunotherapy is administered to patients with hematologic malignancies, such as multiple myeloma, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), following allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT). The goal is to stimulate donor T-cell responses against residual host tumor cells that express the UTA2-1 antigen, thereby promoting a graft-versus-tumor (GVT) effect while minimizing immunosuppression.
