Uterine-derived mesenchymal stromal cell therapy (UMSCs) is an allogeneic, cell-based biologic therapy consisting of mesenchymal stromal cells harvested from uterine tissue. Developed primarily for veterinary applications, specifically canine atopic dermatitis, the therapy leverages the innate immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs). These cells are proposed to function by secreting paracrine factors that modulate immune cell activity and reduce systemic inflammation associated with allergic and immune-mediated conditions. In clinical pilot studies, the treatment is administered intravenously, typically in a multi-dose regimen, to evaluate its safety and efficacy in reducing clinical signs of chronic skin inflammation in dogs.
