Overview
UTIL-01 is an autologous, unmodified tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy developed by Instil Bio. The product is composed of T cells derived from a patient's own tumor tissue, which are expanded ex vivo to large numbers and then re-infused into the patient following a lymphodepleting conditioning regimen. UTIL-01 was evaluated in clinical trials, specifically as a comparator or baseline therapy alongside CoTIL-01 (a modified TIL product engineered with the CoStAR platform), for the treatment of advanced solid tumors such as platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. The therapy aims to leverage the natural repertoire of T cells that have already recognized tumor antigens to induce a robust anti-tumor immune response. In early 2023, Instil Bio terminated the clinical development of UTIL-01 as part of a strategic shift in its pipeline.
