Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Utipro Plus AF is an oral combination product developed for the control and prevention of urinary tract infections (UTIs), particularly those caused by *Escherichia coli* and other Gram-negative bacteria. It is classified as a Class IIa medical device in the European Union but is used therapeutically to manage both acute and recurrent UTIs. The product contains a unique combination of xyloglucan, gelose (gelatin), propolis, and *Hibiscus sabdariffa*. Its primary mechanism of action is the formation of a physical bio-protective film on the intestinal mucosa, which prevents the adhesion and proliferation of pathogens in the gut, thereby blocking their migration to the urinary tract. Additionally, the propolis and hibiscus components work to acidify the urine, creating an environment that inhibits bacterial growth within the bladder.
