utreglutide

Utreglutide is a novel synthetic peptide and long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonist under development by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. As a selective GLP-1 receptor agonist (incretin mimetic), it mimics the action of endogenous GLP-1 to stimulate insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, suppress appetite, reduce body weight, improve glycemic control (lowering HbA1c), and lower lipid levels including triglycerides and cholesterol. Early clinical studies have shown that once-weekly subcutaneous administration leads to clinically meaningful weight loss, improved gluco-metabolic parameters (including reduced insulin AUC during OGTT), reductions in leptin levels, blood pressure lowering effects, and favorable changes in lipid profiles. Utreglutide has demonstrated good tolerability with gastrointestinal side effects typical of the incretin class[1][2][5][6][7][8].
