Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UTULY is an investigational intranasal epinephrine spray developed as a needle-free, self-administered alternative to traditional epinephrine autoinjectors for the emergency treatment of type 1 allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. The product delivers 13.2 mg of epinephrine via nasal spray and is designed to provide rapid absorption and sustained therapeutic plasma levels comparable to or exceeding those achieved with standard 0.3 mg intramuscular autoinjectors (such as EpiPen). Clinical studies have demonstrated that UTULY achieves fast uptake even in the presence of nasal congestion—a common symptom during anaphylactic episodes—and maintains higher and more prolonged plasma concentrations than IM injection. Safety profiles are similar between UTULY and IM administration routes, with no serious adverse events reported in trials. The goal is to offer patients a convenient, needle-free option that may reduce hesitation in administering life-saving therapy during severe allergic reactions[1][4][10].
