Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UV3 is a monoclonal antibody that targets human CD54, also known as Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1). It has demonstrated antitumor activity in preclinical studies using SCID mice xenografted with various human cancer cell lines, including multiple myeloma, lymphoma, melanoma, breast, prostate, non-small cell lung, and pancreatic tumors. UV3 works by slowing tumor growth and/or prolonging survival, and its Fc portion is critical for its in vivo antitumor effects. In some studies, UV3 was as effective as gemcitabine chemotherapy alone, and combination therapy with gemcitabine showed enhanced antitumor responses. A chimerized version, cUV3, is being developed, with toxicology studies and clinical trials planned to assess its safety and activity in patients.
