UVAX-1107 is a protein nanoparticle vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of HIV-1 infection. It utilizes Uvax Bio’s proprietary 1c-SApNP vaccine development platform, which generates virus-like particles (VLPs) that closely mimic the target virus in size, shape, and multivalent antigen display. Specifically, UVAX-1107 displays 20 copies of a native-like, prefusion-stabilized trimeric HIV-1 envelope (Env) antigen derived from the BG505 strain. A key innovation in this vaccine is "glycan trimming," an enzymatic process that removes part of the glycan shield from the Env trimer to expose conserved neutralizing epitopes and potentially enhance immune recognition. This approach was recognized as a top emerging technology by IUPAC in 2023. In Phase 1 clinical trials, UVAX-1107 has demonstrated safety and robust immunogenicity with strong IgG antibody responses in all vaccinated subjects[1][2][4][5][6][8].
