Overview

UX-DA001 is an investigational autologous induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neural progenitor cell therapy developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The therapy is produced by reprogramming a patient's own peripheral blood cells into iPSCs, which are then differentiated in vitro into midbrain dopaminergic progenitor cells. These cells are subsequently transplanted into the patient's brain via minimally invasive stereotactic surgery. Once integrated, the cells are intended to mature into functional dopaminergic neurons that restore dopamine production and improve motor function. By utilizing the patient's own cells, UX-DA001 aims to significantly reduce the risk of immune rejection and eliminate the need for long-term immunosuppressive therapy, potentially offering a safer and more durable treatment option compared to standard pharmacological interventions.
