Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UX-HE001 is an investigational cell therapy being developed by Shanghai UniXell Biotechnology for the treatment of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). The therapy consists of human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived GABAergic progenitor cells. The therapeutic mechanism involves the transplantation of these specialized neural progenitor cells into the brain to reconstitute inhibitory neuronal populations and restore GABAergic function, which is typically compromised following oxygen deprivation injury. By integrating into neural circuits and mitigating damage from hypoxic-ischemic injury, UX-HE001 represents a regenerative medicine approach currently in preclinical development.
