V-OLET

V-OLET is a branded injectable formulation of deoxycholic acid developed in South Korea for the reduction of moderate-to-severe submental (double chin) fat in adults. It contains 10 mg/mL deoxycholic acid in a solution for subcutaneous injection and is approved by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, with similar registrations in other Asian markets, as a prescription fat-reduction drug. Deoxycholic acid, a secondary bile acid, disrupts adipocyte cell membranes and induces adipocytolysis, leading to irreversible destruction and clearance of fat cells, while secondary inflammatory and repair processes stimulate fibroblast proliferation and neocollagenesis, helping maintain or improve skin elasticity and jawline contour. The product has undergone Phase 1–3 clinical trials and post‑marketing surveillance in Koreans, demonstrating significant improvements in submental fat thickness and patient- and clinician‑reported outcomes with an acceptable safety profile, and is increasingly used off-label for localized fat deposits in other small body areas.
