Overview
V-VET1 is a clinical-stage oncolytic vaccinia virus strain developed by Genelux and licensed to ELIAS Animal Health for veterinary use. It is designed to selectively replicate within and destroy cancer cells (oncolysis) while sparing healthy tissue. In a Phase 1 study involving canines with various malignancies—including mast cell tumors, osteosarcoma, and T-cell lymphoma—V-VET1 demonstrated good tolerability and evidence of antitumor activity. The therapy is being developed as a novel immunotherapy option for companion animals, addressing a significant unmet need in veterinary oncology where few specific drugs exist for companion animal cancers.
