Overview

V0101 is a recombinant chimeric protein developed by Inmunova in collaboration with Chemo Research (Insud Pharma) for the treatment of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) resulting from Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) infection. The therapeutic consists of VHH domains, or nanobodies, derived from camelids that have been engineered to neutralize both Shiga toxin 1 (Stx1) and Shiga toxin 2 (Stx2). By binding with high affinity to the toxins in the circulation, V0101 prevents them from entering host cells via the Gb3 receptor. This intervention aims to block the systemic toxemia that leads to the life-threatening complications of HUS, including acute kidney injury and thrombocytopenia. V0101 is currently being investigated in Phase 2 clinical trials as a potential first-in-class passive immunotherapy for STEC-infected patients at risk of progressing to HUS.
