Drug intelligence / Profile preview
V132 is an investigational next-generation pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) being developed by Merck (MSD) for the prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease. It is designed to provide broader protection against *Streptococcus pneumoniae* serotypes compared to existing vaccines such as VAXNEUVANCE (V114) and CAPVAXIVE (V116). The vaccine utilizes conjugate technology where purified capsular polysaccharides from various pneumococcal serotypes are conjugated to a carrier protein to enhance immunogenicity, particularly in older adults. V132 is currently in early-stage clinical development, with Phase 1 trials evaluating its safety, tolerability, and immune response in healthy older participants.
