V3526 is a live-attenuated vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of Venezuelan equine encephalitis (VEE), a mosquito-borne viral disease that affects both humans and animals. The vaccine is derived by site-directed mutagenesis from a virulent clone of the Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEEV) IA/B Trinidad donkey strain. It has been evaluated in preclinical studies and clinical trials for its safety, immunogenicity, and protective efficacy. Both live-attenuated and formalin-inactivated versions have been studied. The mechanism of action involves induction of neutralizing antibodies against multiple subtypes of VEE virus, providing protection against systemic infection and central nervous system involvement[1][2][6][8]. The vaccine has shown robust immunogenicity in animal models and early human studies.
