V710

V710 is an investigational vaccine developed for the prevention of *Staphylococcus aureus* infections. The vaccine contains a highly conserved protein antigen, iron surface determinant B (IsdB), from *S. aureus*, designed to elicit an immune response and generate protective antibodies against the bacterium. Developed through a collaboration between Intercell and Merck, V710 was evaluated in multiple clinical trials for its safety and immunogenicity in populations at high risk for *S. aureus* infection, such as patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery or hemodialysis. While it demonstrated the ability to induce immune responses in these populations, a large Phase II/III trial was terminated after interim analysis indicated that significant clinical benefit would not be achieved.
