Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vabiotech COVID-19 vector vaccine is a viral vector-based vaccine candidate developed by the Vaccine and Biological Production Company No. 1 (Vabiotech) in Vietnam, in collaboration with the University of Bristol. The vaccine is designed to deliver genetic material encoding SARS-CoV-2 antigens, specifically the spike protein, into host cells to elicit a protective immune response. Development was initiated in early 2020, with the successful laboratory generation of the target antigen announced in May 2020. The candidate has undergone preclinical testing in animal models, including mice and primates, to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity profile. As of the latest pipeline updates, the project was in the preclinical stage with technology transfer activities in progress.
