Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VAC 40 is an oral fixed-dose combination nutraceutical developed by Medcell Pharma for the management of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and cyclic mastalgia (breast pain). It contains Vitex agnus-castus (chasteberry) fruit extract (40 mg), pyridoxine (vitamin B6, 1.9 mg), and magnesium oxide (250 mg). Vitex agnus-castus acts as a dopamine D2 receptor agonist, which suppresses pituitary prolactin secretion, thereby alleviating prolactin-mediated symptoms such as breast tenderness and menstrual irregularity. Pyridoxine serves as a cofactor in neurotransmitter synthesis (serotonin, dopamine, GABA) to regulate mood and anxiety, while magnesium oxide acts as an NMDA receptor antagonist and calcium channel blocker to relieve physical symptoms like muscle cramps and abdominal pain.
