Overview

VAC2 is an allogeneic dendritic cell cancer vaccine developed as an off-the-shelf immunotherapy for cancer. It is produced from pluripotent stem cells using a directed differentiation method to generate nonproliferating mature dendritic cells, which are then loaded exogenously with a tumor antigen before administration. These dendritic cells act as potent antigen-presenting cells to stimulate the patient's immune system to recognize and attack cancerous cells expressing the target antigen but not normal adult tissues. The platform allows for modification to carry different antigens, including patient-specific tumor neo-antigens or viral antigens. VAC2 has been studied in Phase 1 clinical trials for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where it demonstrated safety and some evidence of immune activation[1][2][4].
