Overview
Lizasai is a biological drug product composed of an extract from the skin of rabbits that have been inflamed by inoculation with the vaccinia virus. Developed by Weishi Pharmaceuticals (Rugao) Co., Ltd., it is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials in China for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. The extract is a complex mixture of non-protein bioactive substances that exhibit neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties. Its mechanism of action in stroke is thought to involve the reduction of oxidative stress, inhibition of inflammatory cytokines, and stabilization of neuronal membranes, thereby limiting the progression of ischemic damage.
