Vacucis

Vacucis is an autologous microbial vaccine (autovaccine) developed by Inmunotek, specifically designed for the treatment and prevention of recurrent or chronic infections, such as oral candidiasis. The product is personalized for each patient by isolating the specific pathogen (typically *Candida albicans* or other *Candida* species) from the patient's own site of infection. These isolated microorganisms are then inactivated and formulated into a therapeutic preparation, often as sublingual drops or a spray. The mechanism of action involves presenting the patient's specific pathogen antigens to the mucosal immune system, thereby stimulating a targeted immune response to control or eliminate the fungal colonies and reduce the frequency of symptomatic recurrences. It is primarily investigated for use in populations with weakened physical barriers or host defenses, such as patients undergoing radiotherapy for head and neck cancer, individuals with HIV/AIDS, or those suffering from chronic xerostomia.
