Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vacuna Polimerizada is an injectable allergen immunotherapy product developed by Alergo Pharma for the treatment of allergic diseases, including allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, and allergic conjunctivitis. The vaccine is composed of allergen extracts that have undergone chemical modification through polymerization using agents such as glutaraldehyde or formaldehyde. This polymerization process creates high-molecular-weight complexes, often referred to as allergoids, which possess significantly reduced IgE-binding capacity compared to native extracts. This reduction in immediate allergenicity allows for the administration of higher allergen doses with a lower risk of systemic allergic reactions. The vaccine preserves the essential T-cell epitopes required to stimulate the immune system, thereby inducing long-term immune tolerance and modifying the underlying course of the allergic disease through repeated subcutaneous administration.
