Vagonixen

Vagonixen is a small molecule purinergic receptor antagonist that was developed by Duska Therapeutics for the treatment of airway disorders, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and chronic cough. The drug's mechanism of action involves blocking specific cell surface receptors, likely within the P2 receptor family, that are activated by extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP). By inhibiting these receptors, Vagonixen was intended to reduce the inflammatory and sensory signaling pathways in the respiratory system that contribute to airway hypersensitivity and distress. Development of the compound appears to have been discontinued in the mid-2000s.
