Overview

VAK694 (also known as NVP-VAK694) is a monoclonal antibody developed by Novartis for the treatment of immune-mediated and allergic diseases. Its primary mechanism of action is inhibition of interleukin-4 (IL-4), a cytokine involved in the regulation of immune responses and allergic inflammation. The drug was investigated primarily for seasonal allergic rhinitis and asthma. Clinical trials included studies on its ability to induce long-term immune tolerance when combined with subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy in patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis. Development appears to have been discontinued after phase II trials for seasonal allergic rhinitis[3][4][6].
