VAL101 is a preclinical oncology therapeutic developed by ValiRx using its proprietary GeneICE (Gene Inactivation by Chromatin Engineering) technology platform to epigenetically silence the anti-apoptotic B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) gene in cancer cells.[1][2][7][12] By delivering engineered constructs that recruit chromatin-modifying complexes to the BCL2 locus, VAL101 reduces Bcl-2 expression, restoring apoptotic signaling and inducing programmed cell death in Bcl-2–overexpressing tumors such as hematologic malignancies and other solid cancers.[1][2][7][12] Optimized second-generation versions of VAL101 have improved manufacturability while maintaining potent gene-silencing activity, and the program remains in late preclinical development aimed at progressing toward clinical evaluation for chemotherapy-resistant and aggressive cancers.[1][2]
