Overview

Valedia (also known as TOTUM-63) is a patented, plant-based metabolic health product developed by the French biotech company Valbiotis. It is composed of a unique combination of five plant extracts: olive leaf (Olea europaea), bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), artichoke (Cynara scolymus), chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum indicum), and black pepper (Piper nigrum). Valedia is specifically designed to manage prediabetes and reduce the risk of progression to type 2 diabetes by acting on multiple metabolic pathways. Its mechanism involves improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues (muscle and adipose), reducing hepatic glucose production, and slowing the intestinal absorption of carbohydrates. In 2020, Valbiotis entered into a global licensing agreement with Nestlé Health Science for the development and commercialization of the product. Clinical evidence, including the Phase II/III REVERSE-IT study, has demonstrated its efficacy in improving fasting blood glucose and 2-hour plasma glucose levels in individuals with prediabetes.
