Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VALERGEN-DP is an allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) product developed and produced by the Centro Nacional de Biopreparados (BioCen) in Cuba. It is a standardized allergenic extract derived from cultured *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* (house dust mite), standardized in Biological Units (UB). The vaccine is indicated for the treatment of allergic diseases, specifically asthma and rhinitis, in patients sensitized to this mite species. It functions by administering progressively increasing doses of the allergen to induce immune tolerance, thereby reducing clinical symptoms and the need for rescue medication. VALERGEN-DP is available in both subcutaneous (injectable) and sublingual formulations and has received regulatory approval from the Cuban authority CECMED.
