Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VALERGEN-DP + VALERGEN-BT is a combination sublingual allergen immunotherapy (SLIT) vaccine developed by the Centro Nacional de Biopreparados (BioCen) in Cuba. It is specifically designed for the treatment of allergic asthma in adults who exhibit dual sensitization to the house dust mites *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Blomia tropicalis*. The vaccine consists of standardized allergen extracts from these two mite species. By administering these allergens sublingually, the therapy aims to induce immunological tolerance, thereby modulating the allergic immune response and reducing the clinical symptoms of asthma. While the individual VALERGEN components are already registered for use, this specific combination represents a new formulation tailored for dually sensitized patients and is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
