Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Valerian drops (Polish: Krople walerianowe) is an approved herbal medicinal product manufactured by Zakład Farmaceutyczny AMARA. The drug is a tincture (Valerianae tinctura) prepared from the root of Valeriana officinalis (common valerian) using an ethanol-water solvent. It is indicated for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with mild nervous tension and as a sleep aid to facilitate falling asleep. While the precise molecular mechanism of the complex herbal extract is not fully elucidated, its therapeutic effects are attributed to the modulation of GABAergic and serotonergic pathways in the central nervous system, primarily through the action of constituents like valerenic acid on GABA-A receptors. The product is administered orally and is intended for use in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.
