Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ValHart Duo is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication developed by Petra Pharma. It contains amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, and valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Amlodipine acts by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells, leading to vasodilation and decreased peripheral vascular resistance. Valsartan selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. Together, these complementary mechanisms of action effectively lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
