Vallesamine is a naturally occurring indole alkaloid with the chemical formula C20H24N2O3. It has been isolated from various plant species, including Ervatamia yunnanensis, Alstonia scholaris, Alstonia rostrata, and Tabernaemontana citrifolia. Research suggests that vallesamine, as part of the alkaloid fraction from Alstonia scholaris, contributes to anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, potentially through the inhibition of inflammatory mediators such as cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX). It is currently used for research purposes.
