Overview
Valproate Desitin is an injectable formulation of sodium valproate, a broad-spectrum anticonvulsant and mood stabilizer. It is indicated for the treatment of generalized, partial, or other forms of epilepsy, as well as for the treatment of manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder when oral therapy is temporarily not possible. The mechanism of action involves multiple pathways, including the inhibition of GABA transaminase to increase brain GABA levels, the blockade of voltage-gated sodium channels, and the modulation of T-type calcium channels, all of which contribute to reduced neuronal hyperexcitability. It is distributed by TwinPharma and manufactured by Desitin Arzneimittel.
