Overview

Valsartan + levamlodipine is a fixed-dose combination drug formulated to treat **high blood pressure (hypertension)**. It consists of **valsartan**, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB), and **levamlodipine**, the active enantiomer of amlodipine, a dihydropyridine-type calcium channel blocker. - **Valsartan** works by selectively blocking the angiotensin II type 1 receptor, preventing vasoconstriction and lowering blood pressure. - **Levamlodipine** blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, resulting in vasodilation and reduced systemic vascular resistance. This combination enables synergistic blood pressure reduction via complementary mechanisms: ARB-induced vasodilation and dihydropyridine CCB-mediated calcium channel blockade. The combination is typically offered as an oral tablet for the management of patients whose hypertension is not adequately controlled with monotherapy.
