Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vamikibart is a recombinant fully humanized IgG2 monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin-6 (IL-6). It is engineered specifically for intravitreal (IVT) administration to treat ocular diseases with an inflammatory component. Vamikibart inhibits both cis and trans IL-6 signaling pathways, thereby reducing recruitment of inflammatory cells, restoring blood–retinal barrier integrity, and decreasing vascular leakage and macular edema formation. The Fc region of vamikibart is designed for rapid systemic clearance to minimize systemic adverse effects. Its primary indications under investigation are uveitic macular edema (UME) and diabetic macular edema (DME)[1][2][5].
