In clinical trials, this regimen is administered orally alongside standard corticosteroid therapy. The combination provides broad-spectrum coverage, with vancomycin and amoxicillin targeting bacterial cell wall synthesis and doxycycline (or ciprofloxacin in pediatric cases) targeting protein synthesis, thereby reducing the microbial triggers of intestinal inflammation.
