Overview

Vandetanib + etoposide is a combination of two antineoplastic agents used in oncology, though not as a fixed-dose combination product. Vandetanib is an oral small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets multiple receptors involved in tumor growth and angiogenesis, including the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR), and RET proto-oncogene. It is primarily approved for the treatment of symptomatic or progressive medullary thyroid cancer in patients with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic disease[1][3]. Etoposide is a semisynthetic derivative of podophyllotoxin that acts as a topoisomerase II inhibitor, leading to DNA strand breaks and inhibition of cell division. It is mainly used to treat testicular cancer and small cell lung cancer but has applications in other malignancies[2][5][6]. Both drugs are administered as part of multi-agent chemotherapy regimens for various cancers.
