Overview
Vanguard B Injectable is a veterinary vaccine developed by Zoetis for the prevention of canine infectious tracheobronchitis (kennel cough) caused by *Bordetella bronchiseptica*. It is a nonadjuvanted, killed antigenic extract prepared from the cellular components of a highly immunogenic strain of *B. bronchiseptica*. The vaccine is administered via subcutaneous injection to induce a protective immune response in healthy dogs aged 8 weeks and older. The unique manufacturing process extracts key antigens while removing residual cell debris, which helps maintain immunogenicity while reducing potential side effects associated with whole-cell bacterins. Although it has been a standard in veterinary medicine, it is being superseded by newer formulations such as Vanguard Recombishield.
