Overview

Vanguard Canine CV is a veterinary inactivated (killed) virus vaccine from Zoetis designed for the active immunization of healthy dogs 6 weeks of age or older against canine coronavirus infection, a cause of enteric disease in dogs.[5][6][9] The product contains killed canine coronavirus antigen formulated as an injectable vaccine and induces humoral immunity to reduce the risk and severity of coronavirus-associated gastroenteritis in dogs; duration of immunity has not been formally established, and primary immunization consists of two 1‑mL doses given 2–3 weeks apart, administered either subcutaneously or intramuscularly, with subsequent revaccination schedules determined by the veterinarian.[5] The vaccine is thimerosal‑free, uses gentamicin as a preservative, and is part of the Zoetis Vanguard portfolio that also includes multivalent products combining canine coronavirus with other canine viral antigens.[5][6][8][11]
