Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vanguard I-III is a canine combination vaccine developed by Zoetis (formerly Pfizer Animal Health) designed to protect dogs against several highly contagious and potentially fatal viral diseases. It is a modified-live virus (MLV) vaccine containing attenuated strains of canine distemper virus (CDV), canine adenovirus type 2 (CAV2), and canine parainfluenza virus (CPIV). The CAV2 component provides cross-protection against canine adenovirus type 1 (CAV1), the causative agent of infectious canine hepatitis, as well as respiratory disease caused by CAV2. The vaccine is typically administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection to healthy dogs as part of a primary vaccination series or annual booster.
