Overview
Vanish XT Extended Contact Varnish is a light-curable, resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) varnish designed for site-specific enamel and dentin protection. Developed by 3M ESPE (now Solventum), it is used to treat tooth hypersensitivity, prevent demineralization, and manage white spot lesions (WSLs), particularly in orthodontic patients. The product contains fluoroaluminosilicate glass, which facilitates the sustained release of fluoride, calcium, and phosphate ions to promote remineralization of the tooth structure. Upon application, it forms a durable physical barrier that penetrates and seals dentin tubules, providing extended protection for high-risk surfaces such as newly erupted teeth and areas around orthodontic brackets.
