vanoglipel

Vanoglipel (DA-1241) is an orally administered, first-in-class small molecule agonist of the G-protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119). Developed by MetaVia (formerly NeuroBo Pharmaceuticals) in collaboration with Dong-A Pharmaceutical, the drug targets GPR119 in the gastrointestinal tract to stimulate the release of key metabolic gut peptides, including glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), and peptide YY (PYY). This multi-peptide release mechanism is designed to improve glucose and lipid metabolism while providing hepatoprotective benefits. Vanoglipel is currently in Phase 2 clinical development for the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and type 2 diabetes, where it has demonstrated the potential to reduce liver fat, inflammation, and fibrosis.
