Variant-adapted BNT162b2 refers to a family of updated formulations of the Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA COVID-19 vaccine Comirnaty, in which the encoded SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein sequence is modified to match specific variants of concern (e.g., Omicron BA.1, BA.4/BA.5, XBB.1.5, JN.1, KP.2) while retaining the original BNT162b2 lipid nanoparticle–mRNA platform.
