Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Varicella zoster virus hyperimmune globulin (VZV IG) is a plasma-derived hyperimmune globulin being developed by Aegros for the prevention of chickenpox (varicella) and shingles (herpes zoster) in high-risk individuals, such as newborns, pregnant women, and immunocompromised patients. It is manufactured using Aegros's proprietary Haemafrac® technology, an electrodialysis-based plasma fractionation process that isolates and concentrates high-titer, virus-specific polyclonal antibodies from donor plasma. VZV IG provides immediate passive immunity by binding to and neutralizing the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), thereby preventing viral entry into host cells and reducing the risk or severity of infection following exposure.
