Overview

PF-07915234 is a prophylactic, modified RNA (modRNA) vaccine under development by Pfizer for the prevention of varicella zoster virus (VZV, also known as human herpesvirus 3 or HHV-3) infections such as shingles (herpes zoster). The vaccine is administered intramuscularly in the form of a powder for suspension. Its mechanism of action is immunostimulation, designed to elicit an immune response against VZV and prevent reactivation that leads to shingles. As of early 2025, it is in Phase II clinical trials for herpes zoster prevention[1][2][3][5].
