Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Variolin B is a natural product isolated from the sponge *Kirkpatrickia variolosa*, found in Antarctica. It is a potent pro-apoptotic agent and acts as a cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitor. Variolin B has shown anti-cancer activity by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle perturbations in various cancer cell lines. It does not appear to be dependent on p53 status for its cytotoxic effects[2][3].
