Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Varizost is a live, attenuated vaccine developed and manufactured by Incepta Vaccines for the prevention of varicella (chickenpox). The vaccine consists of a lyophilized preparation of the Oka strain of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), which is produced through propagation in human diploid (MRC-5) cell cultures. It is indicated for active immunization in individuals aged 12 months and older, typically administered in a two-dose schedule. By introducing a weakened form of the virus, Varizost stimulates the host's immune system to produce active immunity against subsequent VZV infection.
