Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vartumab C9scFv is a radiolabeled single-chain variable fragment (scFv) antibody fragment developed by VAR2 Pharmaceuticals for the molecular imaging of solid tumors. The agent consists of a proprietary scFv labeled with the positron-emitting isotope zirconium-89 (⁸⁹Zr), which specifically targets oncofetal Chondroitin Sulfate (ofCS). ofCS is a tumor-specific glycosaminoglycan that is expressed during fetal development and reappears in a wide variety of cancers, while remaining largely absent from healthy adult tissues. Vartumab C9scFv is currently being evaluated in the VARTUTRACE Phase 0 basket trial to assess its safety, biodistribution, and tumor-targeting efficiency in patients with various malignancies, including colorectal, pancreatic, and lung carcinomas, as well as glioblastoma and sarcomas.
