Overview
Vasa Therapeutics CaMKII inhibitor is an orally bioavailable small molecule designed to inhibit the delta isoform of calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKIIδ). CaMKII is a key mediator of pathological calcium signaling in the heart, and its overactivation is linked to the development and progression of various cardiac diseases. By targeting this specific kinase, the therapy aims to address the underlying drivers of Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF), Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), and life-threatening arrhythmias, particularly those that are resistant to or contraindicated for beta-blockers. The program is currently in the discovery and preclinical stages, with research being conducted in Encinitas, California, and Wroclaw, Poland.
