Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR-3) siRNA refers to a class of small interfering RNA molecules designed to specifically silence the expression of the FLT4 gene, which encodes the VEGFR-3 protein. VEGFR-3 is a tyrosine kinase receptor that plays a critical role in lymphangiogenesis (the formation of new lymphatic vessels) and is often upregulated in various cancers to facilitate lymphatic metastasis. By leveraging the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, these siRNAs induce the sequence-specific degradation of VEGFR-3 mRNA, thereby preventing the translation of the receptor. This therapeutic approach is primarily explored in preclinical research for its potential to inhibit tumor growth and spread, as well as for treating ocular conditions involving pathological neovascularization. While numerous research-grade VEGFR-3 siRNAs are available from laboratory reagent suppliers, there is currently no widely recognized clinical-stage drug candidate solely identified by this generic name.
