Vascular filling, also known as fluid expansion or volume expansion, is a therapeutic intervention involving the intravenous administration of fluids to increase intravascular volume and improve cardiac preload. In the context of right ventricular (RV) infarction, it has traditionally been the first-line treatment to maintain RV output by optimizing filling pressures. However, this specific trial by Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) investigates whether this approach might be deleterious due to RV dilation and ventricular interdependence, comparing it against the diuretic furosemide. In this study, vascular filling is standardized as the infusion of 500 mL of 0.9% Sodium Chloride (normal saline) over 30 minutes.
